Itinerary

Welcome to Argentina!

When you arrive in Buenos Aires, one of our Nomad Patagonia travel experts will be there to welcome you to your luxury getaway. Look for the sign with your name on it to find your guide. From the airport, we will escort you to your hotel, help you check-in, and make sure you’re settled in comfortably. Enjoy a relaxing night’s rest before the adventure truly begins in the morning.

DAY 2 - Buenos Aires to Posadas

Flight to Posadas

Upon arrival in Posadas you will be taken to a local estancia, a traditional Argentine ranch, located in the Esteros del Iberá region near the popular Iberá wetlands. Esteros del Iberá is truly a once-in-a-lifetime immersive experience. This is the perfect place for travelers who want to experience ecotourism, explore a hidden gem of Argentina, and be in close contact with nature and local fauna.

The estancia is the perfect base to explore the area while learning about the culture of gauchos, or Argentine cowboys. Staying here is a remarkable experience where you feel right at home. You’ll be treated to delicious homemade meals and participate in timeless traditions.

DAY 3 - Iberá

Wetland Wildlife Exploration

After breakfast we will sail towards the Corrientes Stream for an unforgettable fauna exploration through the floating islands of the Iberá lagoon. “Embalsados” are floating islands made up of aquatic roots and sediments. Their thickness can vary from a few inches up to 7 feet, allowing 330-pound marsh deer to walk across them.

Cruise the marsh while searching for alligators and capybaras on this wetland safari. This natural reserve is home to some exotic species declared Provincial Natural Monument like the marsh deer and unusual aquatic vegetation, so your encounter with the wetlands is sure to leave you feeling more connected with nature.

DAY 4 - Iberá

Wetland Wildlife Exploration

Enjoy the second day in paradise! Did you get that photo of a cute capybara? If not, you will have a second chance today.

Embark on another boat tour to continue exploring Iberá in-depth, or try something new. Travelers who want a taste of the cowboy lifestyle have that opportunity today. Take a horseback ride along the Iberá marshes and learn the land like a real Argentine gaucho.

DAY 5 - Iberá to Iguazú

Travel from Iberá to Iguazú

Say goodbye to the awe-inspiring sunrise of Iberá and get ready to continue your journey. In the morning, you’ll be picked up and driven to Posadas, approximately four hours away.

Once you arrive in Posadas you’ll continue with private transportation to Puerto Iguazú, the gateway to the famous Iguazú Falls. This journey takes about five hours but passes through beautiful scenery, so the time will fly by as you stare at the majestic landscapes outside.

DAY 6 - Iguazú

Exploring the Argentine Side of Iguazú

In the morning, we’ll pick you up at your hotel to take you to the Iguazú National Park. This is where you will be able to encounter the falls up close on Argentina’s side of the park. The falls are surrounded by a humid subtropical forest where the exuberant vegetation is home to many different animals and birds.

An expert guide will help you spot some of these creatures: antbirds, toucans, manakins, parrots, and coatis just to name a few of the most common birds. Lower and upper walkways weave in and around falls, providing you full access to this magnificent spectacle of nature. You will have the chance to see “The Devil’s Throat,” which is the largest of the falls and the most captivating.

DAY 7 - Iguazú

Explore the Brazillian side of the Falls

Today you will enjoy a peaceful half-day excursion to the Brazillian side of Iguazú. While Argentina has 80% of the falls on its side, Brazil has the best panoramic view. On the Argentinian side, you will have the sensation of being right inside the falls, but only by visiting the Brazilian side will you be able to fully grasp the immensity of Iguazú Falls.

DAY 8 - Onwards to Salta

Flight to Salta

Trade in the jungle for incredible new landscapes. This morning, take your flight to Salta, also called “La Linda” (the beautiful). Travelers seeking to explore the North of Argentina will begin their journey in Salta before venturing deeper to see the outstanding natural wonders of the area, including the Humahuaca Gorge and the Seven Colors Hill in Jujuy.

DAY 9 - Salta

Purmamarca and the Great Salta Flats

Today you’ll ascend into the clouds for a stunning adventure. We’ll pick you up at your hotel to start a two-day adventure through Purmamarca and the Great Salt Flats, a solid ocean of white, 13,100 feet above sea level!

The first destination you will encounter is the small town of Campo Quijano, best known as the Gateway to the Puna. Then, we will visit the impressive Quebrada del Toro, a natural wonder where human-sized cacti stand against a backdrop of eroded mountain peaks emerging from the golden sand like giant fingers.

Finally, the surreal landscape of the Great Salt Flats will reveal itself to you. Natural light and reflections provide the perfect opportunity for endless photo opportunities. Get creative and capture the perfect moment, but remember that there are artificial water pools around the area, so watch your step.

DAY 10 - Salta

Humamarca Gorge to Yungas

Early in the morning, we’ll pick you up from the hotel and begin the day exploring the Humahuaca Gorge, declared a UNESCO Heritage Site. Humahuaca Gorge is home to many amazing natural monuments like the Seven Color Hill, the Pucará de Tilcara (a ramshackle yet well-restored fortress), and the Paleta del Pintor, an impressive multi-colored mountain range.

Our adventurous path will then lead us through the Yungas, the green-tinted jungle of the North. As we journey through breathtaking scenery, we’ll eventually reach the picturesque town of Humahuaca. Wander amongst colonial houses and streets, and get a feel for the old-world serenity that still survives here.

DAY 11 - Salta

Calchaqui Valley and Los Cardones National Park

Hit the road as you set off toward the jaw-dropping Calchaqui Valley. Charming pre-Columbian villages are spread across the valley, surrounded by amazing gorges and multi-colored mountains.

Spot enormous cacti as you pass through Los Cardones National Park on the way to Cachi, a famous village where Spanish and native traditions merge together and form the most beautiful town. In the afternoon, we’ll continue exploring the valleys and get to the town of Molinos and Angastaco, just before visiting Las Flechas Gorge a ragged rocky formation that creates a labyrinth of brilliant sharp peaks.

DAY 12 - Salta

Calchaqui Valley

On the second day of your Calchaqui Valley adventure, you’ll disembark from Cafayate for an immersive journey through the otherworldly Las Conchas Gorge, where erosion has carved mysterious shapes into the red rocks.

The highlight of the day will be exploring the Amphitheater and the famous Devil’s Throat. The amphitheater is a natural semicircular formation where many local artists perform intimate concerts

DAY 13 - Return to Buenos Aires

This morning, we’ll help you catch the short flight to Buenos Aires where we’ll be waiting to take you to your hotel. Upon arrival, you can explore the cobblestone streets of Palermo Soho in search of some Porteño fashion boutiques or discover the incredible street art in the area. If you’re leaving on a Saturday or Sunday, you may have the chance to visit one of the city markets, which are only open on weekends.
